Simplifyd Box

An overview of Simplifyd Box — a multi-uplink aggregation and management platform

Simplifyd Box is a networking platform that combines multiple internet uplink connections into a single, faster, and more reliable connection. It manages traffic across all available links — including broadband, fiber, LTE, and 5G — so your network stays up and performs well even when one connection degrades or fails.

How It Works

A Box router sits at your site and connects every available WAN link to the Simplifyd Cloud Gateway. The gateway bonds those links together and steers traffic in real time based on speed, latency, and availability. A web dashboard gives you complete visibility and control over every site, device, and policy from one place.

Platform Components

Simplifyd Box is made up of three tightly integrated components that work together to deliver a unified networking experience.

Box Router

The Box router is the on-premises device installed at your site. It manages your local network, aggregates multiple WAN uplinks, and maintains a secure tunnel to the Simplifyd Cloud Gateway.

Key capabilities:

  • Supports up to three Ethernet WAN uplinks (wan0, wan1, wan2) plus integrated 4G/5G modems
  • Per-packet load balancing across all active uplinks
  • Automatic failover — traffic shifts to healthy uplinks without dropping connections
  • Local DHCP server for LAN management
  • Built-in WiFi access point on supported models
  • Configurable via the web dashboard or the on-device shell

Available models:

ModelDescription
BXE2150CBox Ethernet — 2× 150 Mbps with 4G/LTE radios
BXW2150CBox WiFi — 2× 150 Mbps with 4G/LTE radios and integrated WiFi AP

Box Gateway

The Box Gateway is the cloud-hosted controller that anchors the secure tunnel from every Box router. It handles inter-site routing, policy enforcement, and acts as the coordination point for the entire Simplifyd network.

Key capabilities:

  • Accepts encrypted tunnel connections from Box routers and third-party GRE devices
  • Routes and steers traffic between all connected sites
  • Enforces WAN, Internet, Web, and DNS policies defined in the dashboard
  • Manages IP address allocation and subnet routing across the network

Box Dashboard

The Box Dashboard is a web-based management console where you configure, monitor, and control your entire deployment.

Key capabilities:

  • Live network topology map showing all sites, devices, and their connectivity status
  • Policy console for WAN, Internet, Web, and DNS traffic rules
  • Real-time connection tracking with application-layer visibility
  • Workspace and access management for your team
  • API tokens and webhook support for automation and integrations

Connecting Third-Party Devices

In addition to native Box routers, you can connect existing equipment — such as firewalls or third-party routers — to the Simplifyd Cloud using GRE tunnels. This supports hybrid deployments where some sites use Box hardware and others use existing infrastructure.

See Adding Sites for a full comparison of native Box devices versus GRE tunnel connections.
